Who We Are

We are a very small club in Stratford, CT., but don't let our size fool you. We do a lot for a small club. Every year we sell Christmas Trees at the Sterling House . We start selling trees the Saturday after Thanksgiving and continue until all are sold.  This one event accounts for over 95% of our operating budget for the year, plus 40% of the profit is given to the Sterling House. We use the rest of the money to fund the following projects.
We do a campaign for "Student of the Year". This involves students from local High Schools submitting essays on an issue selected by the National Exchange Headquarters. From the entries we select about 6 semi finalist and they receive a $250 gift. From these semi finalist we select a winner that is submitted to the National Exchange competition. For being selected as the winner they receive another gift of $750.

We also do a "Finest & Bravest" Award Dinner . This is where the local Fire Dept. and Police Dept. each submit a member to be honored. We then hold a local dinner event where the local community can show their support. Then the Honoree of each department is taken to seperate state events. Both events are held at the Aqua Turf Club at different dates. At all of these events we pay for the Honoree and their family plus the Chief and their family of each department..
On Easter Sunday we hold a dinner for seniors at the Baldwin Center. This dinner is free to any seniors that have signed up. The members of the Stratford Exchange Club buy, cook & serve this dinner for free. Then we clean up the kitchen and the eating area. Last year we had some very welcomed help from one of the Students of the Months.
Every year we purchase a spot for "Stratford Day" and pass out literature about the Exchange club.
We make a donation to buy Pumpkins for the Pumpkin Carving fest held at Booth Park every year.
Throughout the year we hold food drives to collect food for local food pantries. The South End Community Food Pantry does great work with their resources.
At Christmas time we get the names of families that could use some support and we buy Christmas gifts and food for them.

In the fall as our budget year comes to an end, we make our largest donation of the year to the "Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse" in Stamford, CT.

Not bad for a club with only 11 members, but we can always use help.
